    John,

    Thank you John.

I am testing a PIC24FJ256GA705 microcontroller and the Peripheral Pin Select tool from Proton Studio 1.0.2.2 does not work well with this micro. I attached a picture. I do not know if I'm missing something.

This is because there is no information on the mapping in the .Def file for that device.
I will add some code to prevent this from happening and it will be in the next update.

    Thank you John,

I see that the mapping is empty. Is there any place where I can extract that information or do I have to do this manually?

I think it is a manual job. I believe Les has partially automated the building of the Def files but I don't know how the mapping was extracted but from a comment Les made a while back is that it did involve some of his time.

    John,
I have generated a new .DEF file but the PPS tool only shows up to RP18 in the PPS Pins column. Could you tell me where the tool reads the PPS pins to see if I find the fault?

The problem has occurred because the remappable pins are not consecutive, an assumption I had made at the time.
The Def files are not in the easiest format to process and I will have to think how I am going to get around this problem.
I am afraid its not going to be a quick fix.

I think I have sorted the PPS problem, at least for the case where there are less inputs than outputs.
PM me with an email address and I will send you an update for you to test.

    Hello John

A wonderful IDE and many thanks.

Can you do me a favour with it please? Can you disable the "Unused Variables warnings" at the end of compile? It is identifying a few mistaken unused variables, especially with system variables that are created when library routines are called. It's a great idea and is excellent, but can you disable it by default and allow the user to enable it in "options" please?

The .def files are created via the .ppi files and some of the XML files used by MPLABX, but these are a nightmare to parse in the Delphi app because they are using a few different mechanisms for different devices or families. Typical of Java applications, and apps built by commitee. Each person making alterations doesn't give a damn or know what another person has written most of the time, they do it their way because "that's the only way to do it because I'm cleverer than you" is an attitude I've come across far too often :-(

So I also have to go into the .def file by hand and make alterations, which is logistically a nightmare!!!
