Default Can some kind soul explain this

In this example here Les uses the CCP, can anyone explain why he doesn't just use a countdown timer to generate an interupt? I assume this way is more accurate but why? As Jeromy Iron said in the movie Margin Call, "speak as you might to a young child or a golden retriever", he also said "that is spilt milk under the bridge" but thats ....

The CCP module uses one of the timers as its counting resource.

In Special Event Compare mode, the CCP will automatically reset the timer for you when the timer count matches the value set in the CCP period register.

That way, the timer continues to count automatically without you having to reload it in the ISR, so you don't have to worry about adjusting the count value for the interrupt overhead/latency.

Using a special even interrupt, you can get very accurate interrupt times, and the calculation I do to time it makes it a lot easier to use. It does have the problem with some devices in that is uses one of the CCP peripherals, but most devices have more than 1 CCP, so any of the others can be used.
