Yes, very off topic but long long ago I have learned some French things and one is the names of the special characters:
à = accent grave, á = accen aigu, ç = cédille en â = accent circonflexe
Pfffffffff yes from the caves of my memory.
Would Proton 'survive' these characters, never tested.

I once had a job supporting dumb terminals sales througout Europe, so used to know a bit about the different keyboard layouts and punctuation. An umlaut, as I'm sure you know, it the double dot over a vowel.I think you mean circumflex
