    Assuming I haven't already hosed the module. Internally within the E32 module I'm suspecting that the TXD/RXD pins are multiplexed. As I switch to transmit mode using M0/M1 pins, the E32 module becomes intolerant to the higher peaks.
    Requirement for a 4K7 resistor on RXD/TXD?

    MODE & AUX handled correctly.
    Seems for a 5v device, RXD & TXD are 3v3. My bad. Thanks.

    Are we outside of acceptable bounds here?
    Not timing-wise.

    Uarts begin sampling each bit at the 50% time. If you divide that up across 10bits (start+8+stop) that gives you about a 5% per bit tolerance that should work, but I'd stay well under that to account for tolerances on both ends.
