Default Getting OLD PC apps to run on Win 10

    Hi,

I know that the title is not exactly MCU based but there is a reason

I used to use bascalc, it is a programmer calculator. I found it much easier to use than any other I have found.

    http://www.zap.org.au/software/basecalc/

    http://www.zap.org.au/software/basecalc/screenshot1.png

It used to run on a win8.0 PC that was converted from win7. But on my win 10 machine trying to instal it I get "This App cannot run on your PC" Perhaps its a 32/64 bit issue?

Any way I have tried the compatibility mode etc but no luck, any ideas?

    Thanks Tim
    Tim

Something else to try. When installing choose a subdirectory other than either of the Program Files.
Special permissions apply to those directories and they sometimes prevent operation of older programs.

Installs and runs in Window XP in a VMware virtual window. Same problem as you in Windows 10, "program (setup.exe) can't run in this PC", (Windows 10, 64 bit)
    Looks like Windows 10 is a no_no.

http://calc.penjee.com/ have an online programmers calculator which might be worth taking a looksee.

I assume you tried the programming mode of the built-in windows calc?

What features of a programmers calculator are you looking for?

For bit manipulation I use BitCalc and for convertions and arithmetic I use the windows calc.

I dont know if it will help you.

I HAD (not my choice) to use Windows 10 on a client machine. I had a similar problem, I solved it by following the instruction in this thread
