    Default New PICkit 4 available

The low-cost PICkit 4 in-circuit programming and debugging development tool is meant to replace the popular PICkit 3 programmer by offering five times faster programming, a wider voltage range (1.2-5V), improved USB connectivity and more debugging interface options.

For more information about the MPLAB PICkit 4 development tool including purchase, visit here

Its not as of yet determined for certain if the PICkit 4 will work on existing software so updates may be required sometime after testing and development is completed.

First PICkit 4 ship date 3-13-2018.

Thanks Norm! Did not know there was a Pickit 4 coming, have just ordered one.

They are in stock at Microchip Direct and it says it will be with me in a few days.

Certainly will do that, I'm looking forward to a bit more speed though I find it hard to believe it really is five times faster.

Does it have a UI that does not involve Mplabs?

Supposedly it also works with MPLABX IPE (ver 4.15).

I haven't looked to see if there are command-line drivers yet.

I emailed "MPLAB PICkit 4 Part Support" asking if there is command line support for 3rd party IDE's.

Yes, that's pretty well essential. John

I looked in the IPECMD docs for the newly released V4.15 and the PK4 isn't mentioned yet.

I'd imagine they'll be adding it now that the PK4 is actually being delivered. They still don't even have a manual for it on the website!

What makes these PICkit programmers tic as far as data transfer? Don't they require loading the correct file from the PC to know how to interface with a specific micro in order to load the hex file?
