I suspect any amount would be gratefully received George. It will all help to keep Proton alive.

I echo Mellbreak. It is a donation not a fixed payment.

    Hello
The long term solution is to get a U.S.A. distributer for Proton and Crownhill products, I would like to have bought some of Crownhills products but did not
want to deal with conversions, customs and shipping cost.
Proton needs some marketing, it is a stellar product, For those who are on the fence trying it and have not purchased it yet, you will be happy you did. the updates and Forum
are worth much more than you will pay.

    Many Thanks
    Gary

On the free version of the compiler, would it be possible to launch a window at startup which asks for a donation and shows a donate button? The window could remain visible say for 15 - 20 seconds before disappearing. When all said and done, what other "demo" version of a compiler offers so much? I don't know about other people, but I always try to make a donation to the developers of free programs which I use regularly. Perhaps others would be happy to do the same.

I have received stellar continuous support for at least 10 years from the time i bought the compiler key for mere 160. This is a product that has compounded stability and reliability, i think part of it is the non-need for feature creep. My accountant is most likely not fond of handing out donations, so does buying an extra key count as supporting or does that go into the wrong pockets?

    As Melbreak asked
what other "demo" version of a compiler offers so much?
Usually the "free" version is so crippled (in this modern world are we allowed to describe software as crippled, perhaps functionally challenged) its unusable.

    Latex asked
"does buying an extra key count as supporting or does that go into the wrong pockets?"
Let me clear up any mis-understandings

    1) the Proton Compiler was developed by Les Johnson, Les was employed by Crownhill Associates to develop the compiler. There is a legal agreement between Crownhill and Les Johnson to that effect and a history of documents to support that position.
    2) the Compiler comprises of several components - one of which is the Editor, which is owned by David Barker and is used under an agreement with Crownhill Associates Limited, Crownhill have an agreement with David Barker regarding reward for its use.
    3) there is a commercial agreement in place between Crownhill Associates and Les Johnsons Company , profits from the compiler are split equally between the two entities.

So, purchasing the compiler, does provide a revenue stream to Les Johnson.

    However,

Crownhill Associates has offered to Les Johnson the rights to the compiler without any encumbrances , along with The Forum and ALL Amicus Boards, drawings and Circuits that are currently the property of Crownhill Associates
Crownhill has no intention of restricting Les Johnson in ANY WAY whatsoever in continuing to develop and support the compiler
Croiwnhill has NO Objection to Les Johnson receiving Donations and has NO interest in obtaining any financial or other reward from any donation made to Les Johnson.

Crownhill wish Les Johnson all the best in his future business developments

    Having said that

Until Les Johnson makes a decision regarding taking ownership of the Compiler in its entirety along with the forum and if he so wishes the Amicus boards and Circuits, Crownhill will continue to support the compiler users via the Forum and will continue to honor both the legal and spirit of the existing agreement with Les Johnson via his company.

Further Crownhill has obtained confirmation from David barker that he too will support the Compiler and Les Johnsons further development of such, by allowing the Editor to be used in its current form without reward from either Crownhill or Les Johnson.

Essentially Les is free to take donations and earn revenue, and if he chooses he can move forward with FULL LEGAL ownership if he so wishes.

Crownhill has extended considerable support to Les and is keen to see Les prosper in his future with the compiler and any other venture that he embarks on.
