Many thanks to all of you for your suggestions!

What if I unistall (from control panel) all Versions, and I download again latest version from Les and install only that?

Sorry, but I would like to free some space from HD, and I supposed, doing this, I will free about 0.8 G.

Anyway next times I will first uninstall older versions.

    Thanks a lot.

Of course you can do that. Just one advice to see how much space you reclaimed: first determine the amount of free space on the disk where the software was installed, then uninstall all older versions, install the latest versions and compare the amount of free space to what you found in the fist step.
    Please let us know ;-)

I could be wrong, but I don't think you're going to get back any space, or if you do it'll be minimal.
Proton uses the same folder structure when you do an install, so you don't really have 3 x 440MB being used but just a single copy.
It's just that the uninstaller doesn't know you've installed another version.

I had the same situation where I didn't uninstall the old versions first, got multiple control panel entries and that's how I found out about the registery issue when I tried to clean up the old installs.

That's what I said before, but TS is pertinent on doing it his way.

    You're both perfectly right.

I did the job and no space was gained.

Furthermore, when I installed the latest ver., when I tried compiling, it gave me an error saying that it was not finding the compiler (such as ...unable to load the back up...)
I repaired the installation and now fortunately it works again.

So all I did it, I did it for nothing, as you already knew.

Stupid me...but happy to be with you in this beautiful forum for this beatiful compiler.
Sorry if I didn't understand at first...and thanks for your kind help.

Thanks a lot hadv215 and tumbleweed.

    All the best.

It has nothing to do with not understanding, it just does not make sense.
Most programs will detect that an older version is already present and will first uninstall this before installing the new version.
That way you're not bothered by more than one uninstall.

    You're welcome

I'm afraid that is due to the installer I use. I've used it for years now and am familiar with it and its quirks. Learning to use another installer is quite a daunting task, as it took me quite a while with the one I use. Also, it cast quite a bit to buy, and installers are not cheap! The free (open source) ones are quite dreadful, and rarely work in the real world. Much like most open source stuff these days. LOL Made by committee is usually poor for software and hardware. IMO.

I've used Inno Setup (version 5) for a couple of my tools.
    Works great and is freeware.
Took me half an hour to learn, thanks to the examples.

I would second the use of Inno Setup. I've used a few installers over the years (some pretty expensive) and this beats them all hands down. Very easy to use and learn. It's never let me down yet...
