Default Write problem with 18f4331 using MC loader

    Hi,
I am having a problem writing with MC loader to a 18f4331 with 20 MHz boot loader. I can write once or twice with no problem then I get the message. a problem occurred trying to write to the following program location. address $000153 , what do you want to do? Cancel. It happens with several addresses. In some cases I can reset and the programmer first erases and then programs a few more times otherwise I can no longer write.
I built the hardware with 16f877 and never saw this problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks Ian

IMG_2877.jpgIMG_2880.jpgThe programmer is the one from the proton + compiler develop suite manual using MAX232, I have a regulated power supply at 12v and get the 5v from a 7805 regulator. I am taking the 5v for the programmer from the main board with a ribbon cable. would it be better to put a separate 7805 ans supply just the programmer board? Any suggestions much appreciated.
