    Default Problem with enc28j60 and 17F877A

    Hello everyone,

    I made a print with a ENC28J60 and a 16F877A.
    After very long trying with different codes i finally got it worked with MicroBasic Pro and it works great.
    But now i want to try it in Proton Ide code but i don't get it to work.
    Now my question is if somebody can help me with transform the code from MicroBasic to Proton Ide.
    Also if it its possible to make it work to a 18F4550.
    I tryed with the file what was mensionted in this forum with the enc28j60.inc but i can't see where you must place my ip ecs.

    If possible , maybe sombody can help me with this?
    If needed i will post the chematic of my print what works.

    Today I am testing a rewrite of FineLineIDE which supports both PicBasicPro and PDS.
    I sometimes port code from one to the other to test FL's functions.
    PM me your code and I will give it a go at least for much of it.

    It appears the code to port is a Mikrobasic Ethernet Library demo for the ENC28J60.
    Unfortunately a Mikrobasic library isn't something which can be ported as it would be unusual if the source were available as typically only calls to the library are utilized.

    For a Proton example of the use of the ENC28J60 see Gabi's ENC28J60 , a simplistic driver post 97 for 2 example downloads.

    Sorry I'm not much help with Ethernet as I haven't run into the need for it as of yet.
    Post questions to the forum for assistance.

    Oke, here i go.
    I used the 2 files whats on this forum NIC_ALIVE.bas and ENC28J60.inc
    The code i just tweakt a bit because in the orginal code a lcd is connected with hrsout.
    Code:
    '****************************************************************'*  Name    : NIC_ALIVE.BAS                                     *
    '*  Author  : Gabi MIHAILA                                      *
    '*  Notice  : Copyright (c) 2006 www.migadex.com                *
    '*          : All Rights Reserved                               *
    '*  Date    : 05/09/2006                                        *
    '*  Version : 1.0                                               *
    '* Notes : Testing the ENC28J60 Board for functionality *
    '*          : and initialisation                                *
    '****************************************************************

    Device = 16F877A  ' tested host
    Xtal = 8
    All_Digital = TRUE
    ;***
    ;Declare Hserial_Baud = 115200          		' Set baud rate to 9600
    ;Declare Hserial_RCSTA = %10110000 ' Enable serial port and continuous receive
    ;Declare Hserial_TXSTA = %00100100 ' Enable transmit and asynchronous mode
    ;Declare Hserial_Clear = On ' Enable Error clearing on received characters
    ;***

    Include "ENC28J60.INC"
    ;******************************************************************************
    ; Testing ENC28J60 board
    ;******************************************************************************

    ;HRSOut "Start ENC28J60 Initialisation ",10,13
    DelayMS 300 ; wait for host to stabilise

    INIT_ENC28J60 ; Init the board first

    DelayMS 300
    ;HRSOut "Init Done",10,13 ; we check the end of init

    DelayMS 300 ; we test reading a PHY register, i.e PHLCON
    ETH_TMP_WORD_1 = READ_PHY_REGISTER  ADR_PHLCON
    ;HRSOut "Reading PHLCON register = ", Bin8 ETH_TMP_WORD_1.HighByte,".",Bin8 ETH_TMP_WORD_1.LowByte, 10,13

    While 1 = 1                         ; a dummy loop
     Nop
     Nop
    Wend
    Now my question is how must i go further because there is no ip address asigned in the code, so how do i know what ip i must use to check if its working with ping.
    In Mikrobasic with the libery of the enc28j60 you need to define your ip adress , but how must it be done with these 2 files?
    Has somebody have a example? i ask this because i searched this entire forum but no where i find some one with a working example code.
