    Hello
I made a program with VB2010.NET when i send an string in this way..
    PrivateSub Button1_Click(sender AsObject, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

    SerialPort1.Write("A")
    EndSub
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    This source for microPic

    Device 16F877

    Declare Xtal= 4
    Declare Hserial_Baud= 9600 ' Set baud rate to 9600
    Declare Hserial_RCSTA= %10010000 ' Enable continuous receive
Declare Hserial_TXSTA= %00100000 ' Enable transmit and asynchronous mode
Declare Hserial_Clear= On ' Clear the buffer before receiving
    DimVar1 as Byte
    Loop:
    Var1 = Hrsin, {1000, Timeout} ' Receive a byte serially into Var1
    Print DecVar1, " " ' Display the byte received
    GotoLoop ' Loop forever
    Timeout:
    Cls
Print "TIMED OUT" ' Display an error if Hrsin timed out
    Stop

but how do you see the letter A on the display, how do I set the variable. I only see numbers 65

    Hi Hobbyele
Have a look in the PDS help manual The value is in ASCII format, you need to convert it.

You have the modifier 'dec' in front of the variable which prints the ASCII value of the letter A, that is 65.
Just Print Var1, " " ' Display the byte received
