Default Installation Issue on W7 64bit.

    Hi,
I have just installed Proton ( latest) on new machine and tried to install fuse config. No errors reported on install but when run says.
"8Bit_device.info not found in C;\ProgramFiles(x86)\ProtonIDE\PDS\Includes\PPI\". In fact cant find anywhere using search.
This is then followed by ( anybody know how to copy error messages without doing screen save??)
"Unable to find any Device in C;\........PDS\INCLUDES"
So although it has registered in Plugins, no data files have been added.
Ran first time without being in Admin mode ( though it didnt complain), so tried again as admin with no difference. Any ideas please?
How do I uninstall to try clean install, or do I have to uninstall proton as well?
    Many thanks
    Steve

You have to install MPLAB as well. The 8bit_device.info is where the fuse configurator gets it's data and if I am not mistaken it is within MPLAB.

PPI files have been omitted. I will try to locate where that file is and let you know. BTW. What version of the compiler have you installed?

    Ok,

The file is located in: -

    Computer > Local Disk (C) > Program Files (x86) > Microchip > MPASM Suite

The Fuse Configurator located here is will work only with PDS compiler version 3.5.2.0 or later.
    Regards

    Thanks a lot Joseph,
Yet another case of RTFM!! I ASSUMED that the version in Download WAS the latest version, it is of course only 3.5.0.6 and you have to go to the Beta section to get 3.5.4.6. Will try re-installing real latest and let you know.
