Thread: Need help with ignition timing scanner with PIC (my first interrupt project)

Default Need help with ignition timing scanner with PIC (my first interrupt project)

    Hello,

I'm new at this forum. I've been using PicBasic for some easy projects (like pwm driver, same analog measuring...). Now I have a problem with starting a project.
The idea is to measure timing for internal combustion engines (motorcycle).

If I know the angle, PICK-UP is mounted (36 degrees), signal PICK-UP and ignition coil and also actual RPM, it is posible to calculate actual ignition angle ?

Like this: first signal come from PICK-UP, the next signal is from transducer on igniton coil. Mounted angle of PICK-UP is fixed (about 36 degrees). RPM can be calculated with PIC.

    Signal 1 - from PICK-UP
Signal 2 - from ignition coil
Signal 3 - galvanic separated and combined

Can someone help me with the code to determine RPM and time betveen PICK-UP and ignition coil? I have a PIC 16F877. I have no expiriance with interrupts in PIC, so please help me.

    Thanks

    BR, Matej

Just firstly... Are you using Proton Development Suite or PICBASIC PRO?

    I'm using:

    PROTON IDE
    IDE Version: 2.0.0.5

    Proton+ PICBASIC Compiler
    Loader version: 2.0.0.0

    it's PDS i think.

    Thanks

    Matej,

Version 3.4.0.7 was a Beta version full of bugs. Register and download the latest version.

Go to `settings' on the top right hand side of the website, and follow the registration requirements. Have the invoice number at hand as you need it.

    Matei,

You did not register to be a licensed user, you registered to be a forum member. The version you have is an illegal copy of the compiler, and of so you annot be a licensed user. Please consider buying PDS and come back then.

    Regards

It's a beta (as you said) and iz was legaly taken from the web (yust installed and it worked - no cracking or something else). Why would I asume it's not legal ?
I don't expect support but help from other forum users. It's OK that I have to buy it. And I will also do so, but why then this product? How can I know it's so good to buy it? I must test it before buying it (with full features).
