I think you can run a emulator on a mac. But the cost of a mac you could have 2 dedicated PC's one for leisure one for just coding.

Absolutely its possible to run PDS on a mac. I run PDS via Parralels desktop for mac.

PDS is a Windows application...its not native to the MAC so either run under paralles desktop, VMware or Bootcamp and run Winodws native on the MAC hardware.

I agree with Tim. You could have two PC's that will blow the doors off a MAC for the same price. You'd have to build them yourself but that's half the fun. If you really shop around you can build a 6 core @ 3.2ghz, 8 gbDDR3 ram, 128GB SSD drive, 1 TB HHD, 6000 series ATI video, 1 DVD, 1 BlueRay, USB 3.0 , SATA III ,Top of the line motherboard & a 27" monitor for around $800 (no OS).

So you can build an extra one for the wife and have 3 pc's for the price of a MAC @ $2400 (and that's not a MAC with all the good stuff) add in the outrageous price of MAC software & hardware and you save even more.

That said if someone gave me a new iMAC I'd take it, The do look GREAT!!! but I need more than looks for the money.

Its only 1's and 0's or is that 0's and 1's..I get confused

Must confess Doug, the Apple is a rather nicely presented package at a crazy horrendous price for Politically correct appliance with limited use.

Even in notebooks, one could get 3 for the price of one, and still run all great software. I just do not understand the Apple users mentality as to value for money. ?
It is like buying the latest trainers (runners - yank) . to show you have the latest, but a cheap pair will deliver the goodies but may not be acceptable in the must have crowd....

Do you buy a tee shirt becuase it is 1$ or becuase it is 20$ with a brand name as a badge ?

If at the end of the day all you want is a tee shirt.........................

Yes, Proton runs well on a MAC using Parallels Desktop 6. No issues with Hardware or Software.

Note: running PDS on a MAC is an unsupported installation.
