    Default RSin2, RSin3.....

RSin is so much better than Serin.....is there any way we can use it for more than one port?

Currently, I have a 18F4550 using its HW USART to speak to another slave pic, using Les' serial buffer. Works brilliantly.

I also have 3 NMEA inputs that I would like to read every 5 seconds or so. They are all on separate pins and it would be nice to use RSin for all three. Is this possible?

It seems this has been discussed before. Looks like I will have to use multiple Serins.

Can I change the "Declare Rsin_Pin PORTC.0" on the fly like this:

    Code:
    ReadNMEA1:
    Declare Rsin_Pin PORTC.0
    some code
    Return

    ReadNMEA2:
    Declare Rsin_Pin PORTC.1
    Some code
    Return

    ReadNMEA3
    Declare Rsin_Pin PORTC.2
    Some code
    Return

    No.

Everything for Rsin and Rsout is set at compile time, not run time, this makes them smaller and faster. Variation is what Serin and Serout are for.

GPS is usually at a slow baud rate so Serin should be more than adequate. However you could always create several subroutines that receive serial data. Bit-bashing async serial data is extremely simple because it is so well documented, and runs so slowly.
