Thread: Digitally signed driver for Sparkey for Windows 7

  1. #1

    Default Digitally signed driver for Sparkey for Windows 7

    Hi there,

    I recently purchased a Windows 7 machine. I installed PDS OK, but when I insert the dongle, it doesn't work.

    I try installing it manually (pointing to Sparkey.sys) in Windows 7, but it comes up with the message "The driver is not digitally signed" and refuses to proceed.

    There's lots of related discussion in this forum, but nowhere is there a link to where I can get a driver for the dongle.

    Hi, its great to see you visiting our forum. Why not try Proton Compiler for FREE?

    Already using proton Compiler??? Get rid of these pesky messages... get LICENSED USER STATUS

    Thanks - got it

    Edit by Admin:

    The link to the Signed VISTA drivers is in the Beta test section, read before using. We do not have any new drivers for Windows 7

    Note that, with Windows 7, you may need to put the files manually into their respective directories.

    Sparkey.sys -> Windows/system32/drivers
    Sparkey.inf -> Windows/inf

    Windows 7 sometimes throws up the 'not intended for this platform' error when trying to install drivers automatically.
    Or may throw the error message that the sparkey.inf file has errors.

    Been there, seen it, had it done to me.

    Strangely enough, my desktop computer had no problems with the Vista driver install to Windows 7 Ultimate. My laptop had to have the files placed in the directories as above before Windows 7, new clean install, would recognize the spark key and activate the driver.

    Well I just got a Toshiba Laptop,and tried every suggestion.The only thing that worked was a fresh install of just win7 64 the vista drivers went right in.Something in the bloatware did not agree with the drivers.

    Strange the Windows world is. I just copied the inf & sys to the proper place and it worked first time. win7 x64. No problem at all. I'd guess the new signed driver is better. Get it from the beta section.

    If you have a failed install then the only way I've ever been able to fix it is to use reg-edit and manually delete the offending keys. This is not for the novice, don't delete anything you're not sure of. Just look for sparkkey and get rid of it then reinstall. you have to delete it out of the windows inf dir and windows driver 32 dir also.

    thats just a guide. it may not work. just something to look at. It seems every Pc is different. MS needs to fix it. in this case MAC's are much better
