    Default sparkey.dll not found

    Hi,
Im trying to install on a W7 (x64 Home Premium - not that there is a home basic!!) from originall CD.
Read the bits about 64 bit driver and have got it so it is recognised in device manager, however when i try to compile i get 'sparkey.dll' not found in path error. A search shows that it doesnt seem to exist anywhere on computer.
I havent loaded any beta software yet, is this possible problem? thought i would get basic going first
Anybody got any suggestions on a fix/workaround please. My old laptop died, and Im off to Tokyo for a month or so in a few days, and need to use out there.
    Many thanks
    Steve

For Windows 7, look here for Vista drivers,. Use appropriate 32 or 64 bit versions for Windows 7

    http://www.picbasic.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8763

Same Vista drivers work with Windows 7,

For both 32bit and 64bit versions:

    Look in Windows/system32/drivers for sparkey.sys
    Look in windows/inf for sparkey.inf

download appropriate driver for you OS

Don't think Windows7 uses the sparkey.dll file. Isn't on my Windows 7 system, 32bit, and the spark dongle is recognised and Proton compiler works well.

You might try copying the required files to the appropriate directory manually and letting the dongle seek drivers automatically.

If that doesn't work, try installing XP in a virtual pc, using VMWARE or Virtualbox and install Proton into this.

Still no joy with Windows 7 on my Windows laptop and Proton Sparkey.

So went with Virtualbox running XP on my MacBook Pro! No probs!

MacBook Pro, VMWare Fusion with Win 7 Enterprise N, no issues at all.
It was the Vista driver I think.
The Sparkey version is 5.0.2064.0 dated 05,08,2007.

Yes, the Vista drivers in the beta section work on Win 7.

Just to update whats happenning with me. I couldn get the beta vista 64 bit working on W7 6 bit. I upgraded to Ultimate and it works fine on Windows XP VM (not vmware). I also discovered that Proteus does not support USB under 64 bit, so that is also running under XP.
Went and bought an i7 laptop with 6GB ram etc and now back to running single processor . Such I guess is the price of progress.

    Hi Amit

Yes it does work with vista but you need the drivers, however you have to go through a convoluted registration process to get hold of it.

Considering that Visa is so old its been replaced with Windows 7 I think is appalling that Proton is still being sold with out all the drivers to work with vista out of the box.

PM me with your mail address and I will send you the drivers
