    Default PIC iPod wav player

Coming in the next month or two a PIC iPod wav player.
Plays 44k, 8 bit, stereo wav files from an SD card.
Displays BMP pictures on a NOKIA 6100 GLCD.
Scrolling menu on GLCD includes play all wav's, shuffle wav's, and show all pictures.
Also 21 character/number file names are optional from an in file data read.

BMP pictures can be converted for use on the PIC iPod with the NOKIA 6100 GLCD Code, BMP Converter.

Files can be loaded to the SD card to appear in the desired order with the upcoming "PIC iPod file loader".

SD original code from swright's SD_File_System.
Code is optimized for fast read of SD card by sequential reads of sectors
in place of reading the partition table for the sector locations.
This is possible because the sectors are in sequential order until
    a file is deleted.

Sound samples of 8bit 44k music and a text to speech recording of file names in shuffle mode.

FAT OR FAT16 is capable of up to 512 files and up to 2 gig SD cards.

Hi Normnet, I think what you are doing is absolutely super.
Only thing is, its more of a programming exercise. I bought an 8 gig mp4 / 3 player with 2.5 inch screen from hong kong the other day for around 20 euros, complete. does everything.
Not knocking what you are doing at al, it is really excellent, but sometimes its not worth reinventing the cheaper wheel.

Bloody good coding exercise though !.

PIC iPod can be customized to add an audio and visual interface to PIC projects.

You could select which gauge on your ship to read by use of the scrolling GLCD menu.
They could also give an speaking readout or warning instead of just a buzzer.

Reading a meter while keeping probes on fine circuit traces could be easy with a audible readout.
Future PIC iPod may include fast sequential file reads of "1 hundred"-"seventy"-"four".

Developers toy's could speak up to 512 files or 2 gigs of 44k 8bit quality speech.

Realistic gunfire could be added to tango laser game projects.

Several PIC iPod's in parallel could be a polyphonic instrument.

Sound quality is much better (I think) than ISD voice chips and much longer too.

    Hi
This is not a programming questions, sorry for use the Forum to post my opinion.
A lot of times I ask myself if still makes sense the now generation of students it to choose areas of technologies, like electronic engineer or technicians of electronic and telecommunications when we came across frases as this written here at the Forum:
"I bought an 8 gig mp4 / 3 player with 2.5 inch screen from hong kong the other day for around 20 euros, complete. does everything."

This area that promotes the innovation and the improvement in our life, also not forgetting in the medicine too, it is completely banalized, assisting the costs of development of the products as well as the necessary man hours and know how and the constant study actualization . The problem of the comparition with the Asian countries in productivity terms one cannot see for this prism, the life cost and the salarys don't have comparison possible with the one of Europe. I don't want to seem sceptical in relation to this, but I believe, that if it went student at this time, í'm shure of non going into the area of electronic technologies. In the next times, not very distant, itīs can better live in other occupation where you donīt need to learn so much

    Hi Capn Slarty

Not all of us want to pop into HK and pic up the latest gizmo. Been there done that.

Normnet is to be congratulated on his developments, and the fact that he allows us to use them free of hindrance, because most PIC developers want to develop something a little out of the ordinary, in most cases a not off the shelf item.

    Cheers
