    Using the Proton Hrsin command

    HSERIAL_BAUD = 9600 ' Set baud rate to 9600
    HSERIAL_RCSTA = %10010000 ' Enable serial port and continuous receive
    HSERIAL_TXSTA = %00100000 ' Enable transmit and asynchronous mode
    HSERIAL_CLEAR = On ' Enable Error clearing on received characters

    Doing it your self

    RCSTA = $90 ' Enable serial port & continuous receive
    TXSTA = $20 ' Enable transmit, BRGH = 0
    SPBRG = 77 ' 9600 Baud @ 48MHz, 0.16%

    Does anything happen, do you get anything on the LCD screen, anything on the RS232, is the clock running?

    Sorry for asking a "strange question" but I was only trying to help you. Here's a more straightforward question for you: Who will win the European Football?

    Charlie

    Your code will wait for 30 seconds before anything happens, have you taken that into account?

    I looked at the code earlier in the thread and saw the LCD. I made a mistake for which I apologise.
    If you really want some help from this forum then I suggest you find some manners. You won't get any behaving like you are doing.

    Hi Dima,

    Firstly let me say that Charlie is a respected member of this forum with a lot of experience of using Proton. He doesn't "Troll" . This forum is very different to many others - people are expected to treat each other with respect. Without exception in my experience, forum members go to great lengths to help each other.

    Now to your problem. I suspect that you have configuration issue. I've produced a small test program for you to try. It does work - I've tested it on real hardware. I'm using a 20MHz crystal.

    Code:
