Apart from the dsPIC's what is the difference between:

    Labcenter Proteus VSM for Microchip PIC Bundle (PIC10, PIC12, PIC16, PIC18, PIC24 & dsPIC33) at £995

    and

Basically, you get all the parts they have models for in that series. If you get the bundle then you get hem all. Pretty straight forward.

The Crownhill bundle does not include the PIC24 and dsPIC33 libraries... since Crownhill does not support them. Labcenter calls it their "8-bit" library, and you can get it direct from them or from Crownhill.

Thanks to you for introducing me to State Machine programing . I read with interest your article covering this subject. There was also a very good description on how to use VSM which opened my eyes to this software, I now use it as much as possible to check what is happening in my programe.
Once again thanks for your helpfull articles Tim

I have asked Santa for ISIS.

Might take more than a mince pie and a glass of milk though.

Old thread, but after reading some of the posts about price and is it worth it.I have 2cents on this, I am a hobbiest and so the choice is even harder the chance of ever doing any project to pay for this is slim. But I think that every hobbiest should own this, buy the sample program its reasonable for what it does.Even us hobby people know the code you write for most every 16f or 18f will will work with most other 16f or 18f.I will save so much time by not having multiple programing boards layed out on my cluttered desk with wires plugged in to bread boards. Now with that being said if my wife new how much I spent on this software I would be back in front of the bread board cross wiring them to stay warm. You dont have to be sitting in front of the desk to be testing code. And as far as communication debugging I think in the future it will save mass amounts of time.Grab the mouse and wire it up,it looks complicated I never played with it in PDS I just read some of Tims posts and go this will help me out, after 3 hours of having it I had a circiuit all layed out and testing. Its on my laptop so it can go anywhere. If you can swing it worth every dime.

It's nice for simulating digital stuff but not analog. It gets the job done. The support sucks they dodge the bullet when something goes wrong. I have a problem with the a2d conversions. I sent them the schematic and software program. Never got any feedback on what might the problem.
But I use it more than the real chips to design stuff. I have simulated a lot of the circuits downloaded from the internet. Some work some don't. It is invaluable as a learning tool.
They need to update some the chips. Some are obsolete.
