Question PDS program delay with Bootloader

I'm finding there is a delay of about 10 seconds after a compilation before the bootloader programming begins (Using F10) which is very frustrating on a 3.4Ghz machine. The Proton+ version used to program immediately after you pressed the target system RESET. I'm leaving the new Bootloader to program automatically - is there some setting I'm missing somewhere?

(also, in PDS, selecting View/loader.... or View/loader options ... is slow to respond)

Anyone finding same / have a fix?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Do you have some other software running in the background? Maybe virus scanning software or something?

I use MicroCode Loader daily on a much slower machine, and mine takes only a few seconds from compile to program.

    Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your suggestion. Tried disabling AVG anti virus. Windows firewall etc is off btw. Compiling etc zooms along, there's just a 10 second wait before the bootloader prog fires off. On a 3.4Gz P4 you would think any checks that are being made would be much faster than that. Also, I've noticed, the IDE takes a while to fire up i.e. several seconds between clicking the IDE icon and the main window appearing.

    Hi,

I too have noticed some sluggishness.
After working on a project for a few hours and compiling several times, my computer will get sluggish and then complain that it's running out of virtual memory.

What's weird is that my computer at work, which is generally slower, seems to compile and program faster than my PC at home, which, for all intents and purposes, is much faster than my work PC.

    Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

    Cheers.

    Hi:

I timed it at 8 seconds from the click of the compile button to the PIC running the program. PIIII at 3.4 GHZ. I did wire in the reset feature on the max 232. Boy did I just get lazy.
