If you use the serial terminal window for debugging and trace output then you need STW (Simsoft's Terminal Window), written for the Proton+ compiler.
Problem: Every time I re-compiled my code I had to restore the terminal window (from the taskbar), disconnect it from the COM port, click Reset on the development board so that it could write to the COM port, and finally re-connect the terminal window to the COM port to see the trace output.
Solution: Write your code as usual and then just click Compile on the STW menu and your program is compiled, downloaded, and the [trace] results immediately appear in the STW window. Just one mouse click every time. What a relief! STW always appears on top so never gets lost behind the Proton+ Compiler window, and it can also be tucked away to give more room in the code window. STW handles the opening and closing of the COM port automatically.
