Default A couple for the wish list

    Hi

Hi, its great to see you visiting our forum. Why not try Proton Compiler for FREE?

Download the FREE version of Proton Compiler, Its called Amicus18 and its available from HERE

Already using proton Compiler??? Get rid of these pesky messages... get LICENSED USER STATUS

I have a couple of suggestions that would make life easier. They arose because I was debugging a college's code whilst he was away on holiday!

The first is an extension to the IF statement to allow ELSEIFs thus

    IF condition THEN
    do this
    ELSEIF other condtion THEN
    do that
    ELSE
    do the other
    ENDIF

This would save having to nest large numbers of IF statements if more than one condition is to be tested. I my case 14! A case statement would do the same job and may be neater.

The second is a Hardware version of PULSIN and COUNTER; there are already hardware versions of Serial and PWM commands for PICs that have the necessary hardware. An HPULSIN or HCOUNTER would allow better resolution and more accurate measurements without having to resort to assembler.

    Cheers

    Paul

I am looking into an ELSEIF structure for future upgrades.

Within the compiler's library, I have to be careful of not diturbing too many hardware registers. Measuring and counting pulses will require the use of the TIMERS, however, this poses a problem if people are using the timers for interrupts as well!

I will ALWAYS stay clear of using ANY of the timers within commands.
