    Perhaps this has been tried but desolder the H bridge chip and check continuity on all relevant traces.

    or should it be more like
    RA1PPS = %00011111

    Above not real values.

    No repeater in use. Its not intuitive to press a button and pause before speaking and not enough learn to do so. Many may have no idea why no one responds to their messages.
