    Re: Variable strange behavior

Nex, what do you mean doesn't work?
Without more information it is not possible to help.
Can you write a small program that shows the problem as Tim has suggested?

    Hi basparky,
Time for that Wiki article, it's too useful to have it lost in the forum. :)

    That's helpful Nex.

In order to understand what is going on I need to understand the structure of the number you are bringing in.

Re: Support for Les... a change of heart?

I'm of the same mind George. If a part has been made for an Arduino I know I can make it work with a PIC.
Another positive now is that when Les has his new compiler working it is an opportunity...

    Re: Numeric conversion trouble

Further to George's comment, for example if y=3 then you are shifting the value left by 24 bits - there will be nothing left of your result if NumericVal is a word.

I don't think that is Teo's question. He wants to be able to monitor the timer's loop so if a certain condition (a=1) happens he can know the period. I don't think he is worrying about accuracy...

I suppose if it's a 'one of' then it's fine to tweak the maths. If it's for production it's going to be a pain even with a calibrate function.

I'm probably wrong but I thought the tris was automatically changed when you either input or output to a port. I may have not understood the original issue.

Stephen I'm probably wrong but I thought when using screened cables that a cable should only be earthed at one end otherwise a ground loop could be created and defeat the purpose of the shield.

  32. Re: Invisible RS232 Serial Buffering code of Les and RS485

Hi Joseph, RS485 is just a transmission method and nothing to do with the data - no inherent error correction. So the answer is yes.
