    No repeater in use. Its not intuitive to press a button and pause before speaking and not enough learn to do so. Many may have no idea why no one responds to their messages.

    Walkies in the vicinity receive the first work OK as I hear them respond to transmit-ions of which at my more distant location have the first word (name) clipped so I think its the TX which delays.

    May not help but for some reason i always place Declare Xtal ahead of OSCTUNE.
    Does it work at all? Try blinking an led 1 second on and off to see the timing.
