    Be aware that RESET is not always enough, I had the situation in my sprouter-topic, in case that the I2C could hang, a reset doesn't fix the situation.
    The problem is, it occur only once in 2 weeks...

    If a slave (must) use clock-stretching then it wouldn't work with I2COut.
    The Bus will stop and a Reset or powercycle must be invoked.

    Are you sure that the resistors are connected to ground or 0Volt.
    I had it one time wrong and route one resistor to +5Volt.

    Sometime it is 0x40 but also 0x40 R/W , Read Write bit, so the bit's shift one bit to the left, so 0x40 would be 0x80.
