    Re: 18F24k20 Handbrake Stuck

    Hi Charlie-
It looks like OSCCON is missing from your code. Try OSCCON = %01110010. Also, I'm not seeing OSCFRQ as being a valid SFR.

    Re: Programmable RF oscillators

You're right, John- I was thinking mainly of checking timebase accuracy. Calibrating amplitude would be tricky.

    Re: Programmable RF oscillators

    Hi Charlie-
For calibration purposes, you could start with a stable crystal oscillator, maybe 10 to 50 Mhz, and feed the output into a snap diode. This can generate evenly-spaced harmonics (a "comb...

    Re: Slightly surprised by 18F26K22

....but the 4.7K pulldown is only in the circuit while the Pickit is connected. As soon as you're done programming and unplug the Pickit, it's not an issue.

    Re: Slightly surprised by 18F26K22

Yes-exactly. You can probably go higher on the resistor to reduce the load on the programmer. Maybe even as much as 10K. Sounds like some experimentation is called for.

    Re: Slightly surprised by 18F26K22

    Hi George-
I think you got lucky on this one. Of course, when Vpp goes up to 10+ volts, both PGC and PGD become inputs, regardless of how TRIS is set, but the Pickit2 must have been able to...

  9. Re: Need someone smarter than me to write code for POV displays

Thanks for the info, but this is a MUCH bigger project. The software that generates the animated graphics has to run on both PC and Mac, and the display part will be using a PIC. They will be...

  11. Re: Need someone smarter than me to write code for POV displays

Thanks, guys, but I think I must not have explained clearly. POV means "Persistence of Vision". In this case there will be four arms with 128 RGB LED's on both sides of each one. These will be...

What color is it supposed to be after successfully programming?

Just got my new Pickit 4. The initial evaluation is not good. I used Mplab X IPE (not IDE) for these tests.

So far, I have only found one type of chip it will program- a PIC18F4685. The good...

    Hi Henk-
Don't get too hung up on the Schmitt trigger inputs. If you've got a chip that does everything else you need, just hang a couple of 74LVC1G14SE-7 on two of the pins. Note that these single...
  23. Re: Getting old, need help on suitability ttl vers RS232

I agree with all of the above, but let me add one comment. If running TTL, things go "poof" when the voltage exceeds about 5 volts. RS232 (and RS485) buffers are usually good to 30 volts or more,...

  25. Re: DAC 18F25K22, How to acces, and is it for analog only, or even digital?

Wow! That's not much of a DAC!. It looks like there are only 32 states, so to get 2.5 volts you'd need to send Dec. 16.

I presume that when you're trying the lower 4 bits you've reconnected LCD data bits 4-7...
