  1. Chocolate egg delivery mechanism

The museum is constructing a spoof version of the Heath Robinson machine (which preceded Colossus). It is largely my project.
I can't say much more at this stage but we need to deliver single...

  4. Re: How to pick apart a binary include file

Hadv: That's exactly what I was on about, good work.
  5. Re: How to pick apart a binary include file

Good work hadv! I think a better definition of an "include" file would say that it allowed Proton code to be included in a program in a structured way.
The compiler will still look at your hex code...
  6. Re: How to pick apart a binary include file

    hadv,

Surely the compiler expects code in the include file? SCV says that it is binary.
I tried it with an exe file renamed to .inc and the compiler "couldn't find it".
  7. Re: How to pick apart a binary include file

I did a similar thing for upgrading the firmware on an alien micro-controller. I converted the binary to hex, stored that in my Proton prog, then read it using Cread commands. Worked fine.
    In your...

    Re: 3D printer. Yey!!!!

That looks like a nice piece of kit Les. I know little about 3D printing, is the software easy to drive, and does one have to buy a software package?

  12. Re: Compiler give error if more than 50 times is used directive "Include"

It's because the ISO (international Standards Org) have got into bed with Microchip. Stranger things have happened.....
  13. Re: Compiler give error if more than 50 times is used directive "Include"

    Hey Les

The International Standards Organisation have just redefined the BYTE. It now has 9 bits.
When you have a minute could you mod the compiler please?

    Re: Compiler problems

    Peter

This is a long shot: load the compiler and copy/paste this in, then click "compile":

    Device = 18F26K22
    Declare Xtal = 64

    Hi Tadd

Are you sure that A.4 is the input? I would guess that a floating pin might cause the trouble you are having.

    Re: Compiler problems

    Peter

Sometimes, after editing a source, the compiler locks up half way through the compilation. It's as though Win10 has forgotten about it.
The only solution is to re-boot Win10. It happens on...

    Drawing lines on CRT screen

I have a cathode ray tube and the XY plates are driven by two 12 bit DACs.
I need to draw lines from the centre of the tube (0,0) at various angles. The DACs

  28. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?

Thanks Stephen, George. I am always nervous about changing the registry - I can do plenty of damage anyway!
I'll try it when I am sure everything is safely backed up.

  29. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?

Oh, I would say yes you should use the post #10 version, then apply the latest update. The troubles I am having go back earlier.

  30. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?

  31. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?

I'm almost there George. One final question: how do you know it's a "full install". The update section says not to uninstall the previous vsn because this is an update.

    Where is the "full...
  32. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?

I think I see. Finally, where do I get a Full Install from please George. My old one disappeared when I wound back Win10.

    Charlie

    Found it. I'll try that....
  33. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?

..which still begs the question: If you have missed some "updates", is it OK to apply later updates or does a later update include all previous updates?

If I'm being thick then forgive me.

  34. [SOLVED !] Re: Latest compiler updates (2018) - will upgrade any version?
