Online Updating
The Proton Development Suite (PDS) supports online updating through the IDE. Online updating will work with a dial-up, LAN or broadband connection. The IDE will only check for online updates if requested to do so. That is, you explicitly select View...Online Updates. If you want the update manager to automatically check for updates each time Proton IDE starts, then select View...Editor Options and choose the 'Online Updating' tab. Choose one of the following... Dial Up Connection Checking the 'Dial Up Connection' option will force the Proton IDE to automatically check for updates every time you start the software. It will only do this if you are currently connected to the internet. Proton IDE will not start dialling up your ISP every time you start the program! LAN or Broadband Connection Checking the 'LAN or Broadband Connection' option will force Proton IDE to automatically check for updates every time you start the software. This option assumes you have a permanent connection to the internet. Automatically checking for online updates is recommended if you wish to keep right up to date with the latest PDS features and fixes. Online updating is not available with the Lite Edition of PDS. |
