  • TLP250 Opto Driver

    A Nifty Chip !

The TLP250 is an opto isolated gate driver. It features 8mA LED drive current while the driver can be supplied from 20V. This chip is suitable for driving high speed switching apps, I tested the switching up to 1MHz.

The driver can drive up to 1.5A to ensure fast gate switching. If the high sides each has an isolated supply and the low sides have a supply the supply can go as high as the isolation will hold. Suitable for speed controll H-bridge applications.

Supplied by a 15V (suggested) regulated supply the driver can switch open collector applications, ie power supplies or switch mode power supplies amongst others, but can switch really almost anything FET driven.

A basic schematic of a possible high voltage bridge driver.
